Rachel & Joe’s Wedding Celebration at Springfield Country Club
Postponed twice due to COVID-19, Rachel & Joe’s wedding celebration gets what it is all about, love. Their reception was held under the patio tent of Tavola Restaurant + Bar overlooking the golf course. An intimate celebration with cobalt accents, guests were treated to a live acoustic performance by local favorite Mike Barclay. We talked to the newlyweds to get a look inside their classic wedding reception.
Tell us about the engagement. Where did it happen? What made it special?
Joe proposed in our condo the week after my birthday to throw me off. It was just the two of us and we met friends and family at a local bar down the street that night.
How did COVID-19 change your wedding plans?
We originally planned our wedding in April of 2019, right after our engagement. We loved Springfield Country Club and chose it as our wedding venue because of the location, hotel, and bar on site. COVID-19 changed our date twice. It was a stressful time but working with Janet at Springfield Country Club and all of our amazing vendors made the experience easier.
Why did you choose to have a country club wedding?
We liked that Springfield Country Club had everything on site that we needed. It made everything so easy for us
Where was your wedding reception?
Our reception was at Tavola! We had a tent outdoors because of COVID-19. Our friends and family had an amazing time! It was just the celebration everyone needed after quarantine.
What are some fun details you added to make your day unique?
Hand sanitizers, masks and color-coded bracelets for social distancing. We had red, yellow and green bracelets. Red meant keep your distance and green meant that you were ok with mingling
How did you feel when you finally saw him/her at the altar?
Rachel: I walked so fast down the aisle because of my nerves. Our priest even commented that it was one of the fastest walks he’s ever seen from a bride.
Joe: My knees were shaking, it was so exciting that the day had finally come after repeated rescheduling.
Did having a Maître ‘D enhance your wedding day?
Our Maître ‘D, Scott, was AMAZING!!! He was so attentive and we never had empty drinks!
What was on your wedding reception menu?
We had filet and stuffed shrimp, in addition to a dessert room, and cheesesteaks to-go!
What is your favorite scenic photo op spot on the property?
The golf course and the sky in the background was unbelievable.

What is an amenity or feature your guests raved about?
Guests were blown away with the outdoor tent setup. They loved the fact that we had the entire Tavola area outside reserved for ourselves.
What did you look forward to most the day of your wedding?
Seeing all of our friends and family.
Do you have any advice for couples still in the wedding planning process?
Don’t sweat the small stuff and take it all in! The day truly flies by.
